Privacy Policy

TL;DR: We don't track you. That's literally the point of this service.
1. Data We Collect
Almost nothing:
- Video URLs you submit — stored temporarily as part of the video cache (auto-deleted after 30 days).
- IP address — used only for rate limiting. Not logged or stored permanently.
- Transcription feedback — if you rate a transcription (thumbs up/down), the rating and optional correction text is saved. No personal data is attached.
2. Data We Do NOT Collect
- No cookies (we don't set any)
- No analytics or tracking pixels
- No user accounts or registration
- No browsing history
- No personal information
- No advertising IDs
3. Discord Bot Data
The FreeTheVideo Discord bot:
- Reads message content only to detect video URLs from supported platforms.
- Does not store messages, usernames, or any Discord user data.
- Does not read DMs.
- Only processes messages in servers where it has been explicitly added.
- Requires the Message Content privileged intent solely for URL detection.
4. Third Parties
- Cloudflare — CDN and DDoS protection. See their privacy policy.
- OpenRouter / Google Gemini — Audio sent for transcription. We send only extracted audio, no user data.
- OpenAI — Text-to-speech for podcast generation. Only AI-generated scripts are sent, no user data.
5. Payments
Lightning payments are processed through our self-hosted payment node. We see payment amounts and hashes but these are not linked to any personal identity. Lightning payments are pseudonymous by design.
6. Data Retention
- Cached videos: automatically deleted after 30 days or when cache exceeds 10GB.
- Rate limit counters: reset daily, held in memory only.
- No data is sold or shared with third parties.
